Background

The current situation in Albania, despite improvements, continues to show a significant difference in terms of participation of young people, women and marginalized communities in the social, economic and political life of the country. The root cause of this shortcoming varies from gender inequality to lack of capacity and programs of institutions to provide generations with accurate information on the decision-making process and civic democracy. The last local elections showed the lowest level of youth participation in decision making.  In this situation, non-formal education initiatives represent additional opportunities to meet the needs of under-served communities, to promote civic engagement and participation in decision-making. In this context, the Centre propose the implementation of the project “Active youth for a civil democracy 2”, which will take place in the Municipality of Patos. The overall goal of the project is to foster and promote civil youth engagement through participation and dialogue in local decision-making.

Objective

As requested by the proposal, the European Centre will contract an Expert for Trainings who will be responsible for co-delivering 2 Trainings of Trainers with the members of the Youth Thematic Forum of Patos. The specific deliverables required from the Expert are mentioned below.

Duties and responsibilities

More concretely, the tasks required by the Expert are mentioned below:

• Prepare a presentation for each of the 2 trainings delivered;
• Deliver 2 trainings with members of the Youth Thematic Forum of Patos:

• 1 training on Social Integration/ Gender equality.
• Training of sub-forums according to the selected direction.
• Report to the European Centre.

Necessary qualifications and requirements:

• University degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or communication, law or social/political sciences.
• At least 2 years of experience in delivering awareness raising/ trainings/ lectures;
• Previous experience in working in the civil society field;
• General knowledge on community and youth challenges, acquired from different trainings, or work experience;
• Previous experience in working with youngsters;
• Very good communication skills;
• Previous collaboration with the European Centre.

Ability to work with minimum supervision.
